Honeymoon

While I figure out what I want to talk about on this blog (and who I want as the ‘audience’) I figured I should post a few snapshots of our honeymoon in Italy.

Arjun and I had opted to never live together or travel together prior to our marriage, so just getting to be with each other 24/7 for two weeks straight was such a treat. We also discovered that we travel REALLY well together. In that, I like taking reigns of the days plans and Arj is really laid-back and only vetoes my ideas now and then (which I will grudgingly admit, usually works out for the best in the end!).

To top it all of, we were in Italia for this honeymoon!! And we started off our honeymoon in dreamy, dreamy Positano. By far the most beautiful place I have seen (yet) in the world. We took a day trip to Capri, which in hindsight, wasn’t worth it. As Positano is really the gem of the Amalfi Coast, see for yourself!

Then we spent a few days in Rome – which was an incredibly culturally-rich and historically-rich city, but the low-light of our honeymoon as it was also incredibly tourist-filled and we felt someone was out to scam as at every turn.

Then we rented a car, drove to beautiful Toscana, where we lived in a gorgeous villa for 5 days. While there, we took day trips to places like Florence (beautiful, romantic city) and Chianti (vineyards for miles!) and spent time lounging by the villa’s pool, playing ping pong, and going for walks and hikes in the surrounding areas. We also discovered that Tuscany has as many olive tree groves as vineyards!

and a personal sweet realization I had was that in this man, my husband, I get a playmate for life. Because the truth is, at 24, I’m still figuring it all out, and I’m still not ready to let go of the kid within me (and heck, I don’t think I’ll be ready for a long time yet). But what a precious gift to have someone who gets that, who gets the kid in you, and celebrates it for all it’s worth! 🙂
